IN MEMORIAM
It is with deep sadness that CNYC announces the passing of Kevin Cruickshank, a dear friend and member of our Board of Directors. Kevin epitomized the spirit of cooperative
housing at its best. He was both a problem solver and a community builder who was dedicated to preserving and showcasing the cooperative homeownership model.
Kevin sought to resolve issues through positive actions that were designed to lead to meaningful change. Drawing on his experience as the long-time President of his Morningside Heights co-op and his work leading co-op and condo lending strategy at a major bank, Kevin taught classes at CNYC's annual housing conference on how co-ops and condos could resolve financing concerns and regularly provided guidance to
individual co-ops and condos dealing with issues caused by their FISP status. If anyone had a question or needed help, Kevin was there.
As CNYC sought to expand its grassroots advocacy, Kevin leaned in. He understood how the increasing cost of compliance was impacting co-op and condo homeowners throughout the city and was determined to help. He booked spaces for neighborhood
town halls, distributed flyers, and went door-to-door to speak with co-op and condo board members. His desire to change lives for the better was contagious and he quickly
drew in additional volunteers. CNYC's Town Hall movement is well underway thanks to his efforts, and we will carry it forward in his footsteps as we honor his memory.
